FSG Upgrades Lighting and Chillers at Newark Airport

The Port Authority of New York and NJ needed to upgrade the lighting and chiller systems at Newark Liberty International Airport to improve energy efficiency across its extensive facilities. FSG was engaged to design and implement a comprehensive retrofit, which included replacing thousands of fixtures and over 8,300 tons of chillers.

FSG’s solution involved replacing outdated fluorescent and HID lighting with new LED technologies and installing advanced smart lighting controls in key areas. The results were significant, yielding annual energy savings of $1,986,378 and reducing annual energy use by over 12.4 million kWh. The project also dramatically improved light quality, slashed maintenance costs, and reduced CO2 emissions by 3,600 tons per year.
