The Pokémon Company International wanted to expand fan excitement around its “Pikachu Outbreak” summer event in Yokohama and grow its global Pokémon community using Facebook for Developers products and services. To reach more fans and create more interactive experiences, it used tools such as Facebook Live, AR Studio, Messenger Platform, Instagram, and Facebook App Ads.

Facebook for Developers helped The Pokémon Company International run live and on-demand videos, launch Pikachu AR effects in 25 countries across Asia, and use Messenger for event navigation and custom stickers. The campaign also included influencer posts and video ads that outperformed Japanese benchmarks, contributing to 10% growth in Pokémon Japan’s Facebook page in just under two weeks, with more than half of the new fans coming organically.
