Waterschap Vallei Veluwe operates cost efficiently with secure, reliable remote access

Waterschap Vallei Veluwe, a Dutch water board serving over a million people with about 600 employees, needed to upgrade its mission‑critical remote access system to improve capacity and resilience. The organisation relied on F5 Networks’ application delivery platform and sought to increase concurrent user support and add stronger backup/disaster‑recovery to ensure secure, fast access for up to 100% of staff.

Working with partner ION‑IP, Waterschap Vallei Veluwe upgraded to two F5 Networks BIG‑IP 1600 units running BIG‑IP LTM and APM in an active‑passive, dual‑data‑centre configuration, used iRules to automate daily backups, and implemented APM SSO with two‑factor SMS tokens. The F5 Networks solution delivered measurable impact: 99.9% availability over two years, capacity for up to 1,000 concurrent users, office‑equivalent remote performance, greater resilience and scalability, and reduced office, travel and overtime costs.
