The Chinese University of Hong Kong Simplifies IT Infrastructure and Improves Security with F5

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), a leading research institution with about 20,000 students and 7,600 staff, faced rapidly growing mobile and web traffic, legacy BIG‑IP LTM pairs, and budget constraints that limited its ability to scale, manage traffic and protect against sophisticated threats. To modernize its infrastructure and meet higher user demand, CUHK worked with F5 Networks using F5 Application Delivery Controller (ADC) technology, including BIG‑IP LTM and the VIPRION chassis.

F5 Networks centralized CUHK’s existing LTMs into a VIPRION 2400 chassis, implemented SSL Everywhere and F5’s full‑proxy architecture, and deployed the solution with minimal disruption. The outcome was a simplified IT footprint, on‑demand blade scaling, better application performance and full SSL/TLS visibility—reducing power, space and management overhead while materially improving capacity and security across the university.
