Security Company Keeps Systems Protected and Available with F5 Technology

Reliance Protectron, a major Canadian security monitoring and HVAC services provider serving more than 350,000 subscribers and handling roughly 10,000 emails daily, needed highly reliable access to business‑critical applications such as Citrix XenApp and Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, seamless failover to its Ottawa disaster‑recovery site, and PCI‑compliant remote access. To address these challenges the company turned to F5 Networks and its BIG‑IP application delivery technology.

F5 Networks implemented paired BIG‑IP LTM appliances (active/passive) across data centers with BIG‑IP APM for access control, SSL offload, and custom traffic policies via iRules, using F5 deployment guides and templates. The deployment consolidated traffic management onto a single platform, enabled automatic failover and improved application performance for 24/7 alarm and HVAC systems, simplified administration, and strengthened PCI-related access controls—keeping Citrix and Exchange highly available and secure.
