School District Makes Online Learning, BYOD a Reality with F5 Solutions

Gwinnett County Public Schools, Georgia’s largest school system with more than 165,000 students, needed to roll out eCLASS — a digital learning and BYOD initiative — while consolidating data centers, simplifying traffic management, and securing personal devices. To meet these requirements, the district selected F5 Networks and its BIG-IP/VIPRION application delivery solutions to provide a single, scalable platform for application delivery and secure BYOD access.

F5 Networks deployed VIPRION chassis running BIG-IP LTM and GTM (with vCMP) to centralize traffic management, isolate a secure wireless BYOD network, and provide disaster-recovery failover. The deployment consolidated three load‑balancing environments into one, avoided additional hardware purchases, improved throughput and visibility, produced no outages since implementation, and can scale to support up to 200,000 users — reducing costs and streamlining administration for the district.
