Case Study: RIKEN achieves unified single-login SSL‑VPN access and lower operational costs with F5 Networks BIG‑IP APM

A F5 Networks Case Study

Preview of the RIKEN Case Study

RIKEN, Japan's Renowned Research Institution Makes a Technology Shift that Eliminates Hassles and Lowers Costs

RIKEN, Japan’s largest comprehensive research institute, faced fragmented network access across multiple campuses, with different VPN protocols, varied device types, and time‑consuming troubleshooting. To eliminate these hassles and reduce operational overhead, RIKEN selected F5 Networks and its BIG‑IP APM solution to unify external VPN connections into a single, consistent access method.

F5 Networks implemented SSL‑VPN unification with BIG‑IP APM, issuing device certificates and enabling a single URL/login for secure access from Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and Linux devices. The solution supports concurrent access by hundreds of users, simplified troubleshooting by removing site‑specific configurations, and lowered operational costs by eliminating per‑site VPN maintenance and OS‑update validation.
