Port Authority Boosts Security and Performance in the Cloud to Scale for Growth

The Port Authority of Jamaica deployed a cloud-based Port Community System (PCS) in Microsoft Azure to modernize port and customs processes but still faced critical requirements around protecting sensitive customs data, ensuring high availability, and building a flexible, future-proof system. To meet those needs the organization selected F5 Networks and implemented F5 BIG‑IP LTM and BIG‑IP AFM alongside the SOGET PCS.

F5 Networks provided application‑centric security and intelligent traffic management—BIG‑IP AFM for DDoS mitigation, SSL inspection/termination, reverse‑proxy data scrubbing and centralized logging, and BIG‑IP LTM with iRules for customized, highly available load balancing. The result: confidential customs data is secured, system performance and availability improved, operations are easier to manage from a central point, paper processing dropped and efficiency increased, and the PCS can scale rapidly to support future growth and regional adoption.
