Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust needed to expand secure remote access quickly when COVID-19 made it necessary for far more staff to work from home. Its existing remote access setup could only support 500 concurrent users, while the Trust needed to keep clinical and administrative staff connected to essential services during the pandemic.

F5, working with FullProxy, upgraded the Trust’s remote access environment to F5 BIG-IP Access Policy Manager and raised capacity to 2,000 concurrent users. The change was completed in hours instead of days or months, and remote users increased from 70 per day to over 700+ at the peak with no impact on user experience.
