Kettering Health Network Provides One-Stop-Shop for Remote Users with F5 Solution

Kettering Health Network, a nonprofit system of seven hospitals, eight ERs and more than 75 outpatient facilities, needed to simplify remote clinician access to its new EpicCare EMR and other apps across the Dayton–Cincinnati area. Facing a complex perimeter made up of Citrix, VMware, Microsoft TMG and multiple firewalls — plus a planned move from RSA SecurID to Symantec VIP — Kettering turned to F5 Networks, deploying F5 BIG‑IP Application Delivery Controllers and BIG‑IP Access Policy Manager to modernize and centralize access.

Using F5 Networks’ BIG‑IP ADCs and BIG‑IP APM, Kettering consolidated multiple gateway and authentication solutions into a single unified portal with SSO and SSL VPN support, enabled phased migration of 5,000+ users from RSA to Symantec VIP without disruption, and replaced four vendors’ perimeter products to cut licensing and maintenance costs. The F5 solution also improved application availability, eliminated downtime for routine maintenance through failover, and delivered a simpler “one‑stop‑shop” experience for remote users.
