IDC Frontier Uses F5 to Migrate Customers to the Cloud or Hosted Datacenters

IDC Frontier, a cloud, housing, and data analysis service provider, faced the common service-provider challenge of migrating customers’ on-premise systems to datacenters cost-effectively while offering on-demand functionality and a full-scale web application firewall. To meet requirements for multi-tenancy, SSL acceleration, scripting, load balancing and WAF support, IDC Frontier evaluated vendors and selected F5 Networks’ BIG-IP platform (BIG-IP LTM and BIG-IP AFM) as the best fit.

F5 Networks’ BIG-IP, deployed with ScaleN across IDC Frontier’s three main datacenters, enabled virtualized, multi-tenant network services that cut costs versus provisioning appliances per tenant and shortened delivery time from the typical 1–2 months to as little as 1–5 business days. The solution scaled to absorb high-traffic customers, supported modern protocols (SNI, SPDY, HTTP/2), and opened the way for self-service portals and rapid feature rollout—helping IDC Frontier grow its hosted systems and accommodate new customer demands.
