Government Enterprise Virtualizes Server Technology and Boosts Performance with F5 Solutions

The U.S. Government Agency engaged a systems integrator to consolidate, standardize and centrally manage server and storage across multiple worldwide data centers, stabilize an environment with availability and recovery gaps, and enable an IaaS/virtualization strategy. To meet those goals the integrator deployed solutions from F5 Networks, including BIG‑IP Global Traffic Manager (GTM), BIG‑IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM), BIG‑IP WebAccelerator and VIPRION application delivery controllers.

Using F5 Networks’ BIG‑IP and VIPRION appliances the team implemented intelligent load balancing, DNS/GTM traffic management, SSL offload, TCP compression and web acceleration to deliver high availability, active/active and active/passive disaster recovery, and a centrally certified platform. The solution improved performance and reliability, enabled resource partitioning and IaaS, and cut time to market roughly tenfold (deployments moved from months to days), while reducing installation and operational overhead.
