Fujitsu Uses F5 to Build Self-Portal Technology that Configures Network Changes in Real Time

Fujitsu faced lengthy, manual processes—customers had to submit Excel forms and wait about three business days for network configuration changes—and lacked a secure, efficient way to host multiple tenants. To solve this, Fujitsu selected F5 Networks' BIG-IP (BIG-IP LTM and BIG-IP VE) and the iControl API to build a self-service portal that would automate configuration requests and provide real-time updates.

Using F5 Networks, Fujitsu implemented a route-domain-based multi‑tenancy model, leveraged iControl to automate and bundle API transactions (enabling rollback), and used BIG-IP VE for testing and VXLAN/NVGRE for overlay virtualization. The result was real-time configuration changes (vs. the prior three-day lag), reduced operational burden, increased customer capacity per instance, and stronger security through tenant separation and independent routing tables.
