Fresno Unified School District Gets Big Boost in IT Productivity using F5 Solution

Fresno Unified School District needed to replace an aging Cisco ACE load balancer and improve application performance, security, and IT productivity to protect student data and meet regulatory requirements. The district selected F5 Networks and its BIG-IP platform (including BIG-IP LTM and planned use of BIG-IP APM and AFM) to standardize traffic management and consolidate security functions.

F5 Networks deployed BIG-IP LTM and leveraged iRules and iApps to virtualize and automate application delivery and security, reducing setup tasks from hours or days to about 5–15 minutes and enabling the district to absorb more than one full-time employee’s worth of additional security and delivery work. The F5 solution also provided stronger protection (automatically mitigating a DDoS attack), superior reporting to identify bottlenecks, and a simpler, easier-to-manage architecture that freed staff for higher‑value projects.
