Fraser Coast Revamps Data Centre to Reduce Time to Market New Services

Fraser Coast Regional Council, the local government body serving about 96,000 residents in Queensland, faced an aging, highly siloed data‑centre that slowed the rollout of web services, left applications and data exposed to evolving threats, and struggled to support a growing internal user base. Working with IT partner Deployus and F5 Networks, the council adopted F5’s application delivery networking portfolio — including BIG‑IP LTM, BIG‑IP DNS and BIG‑IP APM (along with ASM, AAM and iRules) — to reassess and modernize its infrastructure.

F5 Networks delivered an edge security enhancement and infrastructure consolidation solution that virtualized the environment into a hybrid cloud/premises architecture, centralizing authentication, SSL offload, load balancing and web application firewalling. The deployment eliminated single points of failure, improved application and remote‑access security (with APM integrating two‑factor authentication), and cut time to market for new services from about two weeks to just a couple of days, enabling rapid, secure roll‑out of community services like mapping, property portals and online bookings.
