Telenor Denmark engaged F5 Networks as part of a major IT enhancement to shift from a traditional telco to a digital services provider. Facing a fiercely competitive Danish market and exploding data demand (video now >60% of traffic and a 40% rise in overall data use), Telenor needed better quality of service, security, platform consolidation and greater agility. F5 solutions deployed include VIPRION, BIG‑IP CGNAT and the S/Gi firewall (alongside BIG‑IP PEM/AFM capabilities) to address signalling, scalability and traffic management needs.

F5 Networks implemented a consolidated, high‑performance platform—VIPRION blades, BIG‑IP CGNAT, the S/Gi firewall, TCP optimizations, iRules programmability and an evolving DNS backbone—delivering measurable scale and resilience. The CGNAT scales to ~320 Gbps L7 and over 480 million concurrent sessions, the S/Gi firewall handles 500M+ sessions and >0.5 Tbps throughput, and Telenor now runs more services with fewer devices, lowering capex/opex while improving goodput, failover, security and overall user experience.
