European Airline Accelerates Online Transactions with F5 Solution

Transavia, the low-cost European airline, needed a faster, more reliable website because more than 70% of its revenue comes from online bookings and the site handles heavy traffic. To regain control of its booking application and improve performance while moving parts of the service in‑house, Transavia selected F5 Networks’ BIG-IP Application Delivery Controllers (two BIG-IP 3900 devices running BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager) to provide load balancing and high availability across its two data centres.

F5 Networks deployed the BIG-IP LTM solution (with support from Pinewood) in both sites, enabling seamless traffic distribution, instant failover, and easier management of software changes. The result: a 25% increase in online transaction speed, page loads cut by a third (from 3s to 2s), more transactions handled per minute, improved customer experience, scalable capacity for peak periods, and cost savings through reduced outsourcing.
