The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) needed to ensure demconvention.com could reliably deliver live streaming, real‑time social feeds and other content during the 2012 convention’s peak traffic. To meet tight uptime, performance and rapid‑deployment requirements, the DNCC engaged F5 Networks and deployed BIG‑IP LTM on BIG‑IP 8950 appliances to manage traffic and integrate with the cloud provider’s CDN and security stack.

F5 Networks built, tested and deployed a traffic‑management solution—pairing BIG‑IP 8950 devices in an active/standby configuration—integrated with the private cloud and CDN within weeks, providing analytics, visibility and automatic failover. The site served more than 3 million unique visitors with average page loads of about 0.5 seconds, avoided a costly Ethernet upgrade, and maintained rock‑solid availability and responsiveness throughout the convention.
