Daejeon University, a leading private university in South Korea serving about 10,000 students and 1,000 faculty/staff, faced increasing web traffic from smart devices that strained its infrastructure and caused slow page loads, system errors and exposure to attacks like defacement and DDoS. To address these challenges the university engaged F5 Networks and deployed F5 Networks’ BIG-IP LTM and BIG-IP ASM solutions.

F5 Networks implemented BIG-IP LTM for intelligent load balancing and SSL performance and BIG-IP ASM as a web application firewall to block OWASP Top 10 threats and harden applications. The result was dramatically improved page load times and a highly available, more secure IT environment with better visibility into vulnerabilities, a stable user experience for online courses and reduced CAPEX/OPEX through a less complex architecture.
