Oracle Managed Cloud Services, which runs Oracle enterprise applications for hundreds of customers across 40 countries, faced increasing web-based threats, complex regulatory mandates (PCI DSS, HIPAA, DoD, NIST), and limited in‑house resources to manage multi-layered security. To provide strong, scalable protection without adding customer CapEx or operational complexity, Oracle Managed Cloud Services partnered with F5 Networks and adopted F5 Networks’ BIG-IP family—continuing use of BIG-IP LTM and adding BIG-IP ASM as a web application firewall.

F5 Networks implemented BIG-IP ASM integrated into Oracle Managed Cloud Services’ existing BIG-IP LTM and SIEM, delivering a managed WAF that stacked into the cloud architecture with minimal disruption. The solution provided comprehensive application-layer protection, helped customers meet regulatory requirements, and could be enabled per customer on demand—improving incident detection and response while avoiding extra rack space, new skillsets, or CapEx. As a result, Oracle Managed Cloud Services can securely support large-scale operations (processing more than 5.3 billion database transactions per hour) and offer WAF protection as a value‑added managed service.
