CEWE Prepares for Its Peak Season Using F5 Solutions

CEWE, the Germany‑based photo and online print service operating in 24 European countries, faced extreme holiday peak loads, growing encryption‑driven server load, and escalating security threats to its in‑house and open‑source applications. Its existing F5 Networks BIG‑IP 8900 load balancer was nearing capacity, so CEWE sought a more powerful application delivery and web application firewall solution to keep services fast, available, and secure during surges.

F5 Networks delivered a BIG‑IP 10055s platform with BIG‑IP LTM, BIG‑IP ASM (web application firewall) and BIG‑IQ Centralized Management, with migration support from partner MCS GmbH. The new F5 solution increased data performance to handle 15–20% annual traffic growth without additional investment, improved protection against DDoS, ransomware and other attacks via the WAF and IP reputation features, and consolidated administration—reducing management overhead and enabling faster, seamless operations.
