Bechtle AG, a leading IT e‑commerce provider with dozens of system houses and more than 75,000 customers, needed a user‑friendly, flexible solution for application delivery and security to keep its Bechtle direct webshops available under sudden traffic spikes and evolving requirements. After evaluating vendors, Bechtle selected F5 Networks and its BIG‑IP LTM (with plans to add BIG‑IP AFM) to address load balancing, administration simplicity, and enhanced firewall capabilities.

F5 Networks implemented BIG‑IP LTM behind Bechtle’s existing firewall, fully replacing legacy load‑balancing systems and enabling staged integration of the BIG‑IP AFM for advanced filtering. The deployment optimized application delivery for all Bechtle direct shops, improved performance and security at HTTP/HTTPS (and ICMP) layers, allowed rapid administrative response to changing demands via iRules and modular upgrades, and reduced outage risk while providing long‑term investment flexibility.
