Finanz Informatik, the IT services provider for Germany’s Savings Banks Finance Group, faced rapid growth after a merger that created huge data volumes and a shift to internet and self‑service banking. The company needed uninterrupted uptime for its OSPlus core banking applications, automated and cost‑effective load balancing, FIPS compliance, IPv6 readiness, and simpler administration. To address these needs, Finanz Informatik chose F5 Networks’ BIG‑IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM).

F5 Networks implemented BIG‑IP LTM (including iControl, iRules and HSM) to consolidate three load‑balancing platforms into a single, unified application delivery environment, enable SSL offload and FIPS 140‑2/PCI compliance, and automate remote administration. The deployment delivered high availability and faster application response for an environment that manages 126.9 million accounts and billions of transactions, reduced administrative overhead, sped up application rollouts, and improved flexibility for rerouting and disaster avoidance.
