Banco G&T Improves Availability, Performance, Scalability, and Security with F5 Upgrade

G&T Continental Bank, a Guatemalan lender serving more than 1.7 million clients across Central America, faced excessive failover times, manual migration risk, and the need to boost scalability, performance and security during a primary data center move. To address these challenges the bank expanded its existing F5 Networks deployment, leveraging BIG-IP LTM, BIG-IP DNS and BIG-IP AAM to support mission-critical Citrix/VMware and in‑house applications.

F5 Networks implemented an upgraded BIG‑IP platform to automate DNS‑based failover between old and new primary sites, accelerate applications (SSL offload, compression, caching, deduplication), and harden defenses against DDoS while centralizing monitoring. The result: minimal downtime during migration, automated failovers that meet regulatory thresholds (about a 20% improvement in failover time margin), use of only ~20% of capacity leaving ample headroom to scale, and measurable gains in availability, performance and security.
