Telefónica Tech launches WAD in mid-2023 with F5 to secure multicloud apps worldwide

Telefónica Tech, the digital business unit of the multinational Telefónica Group, needed to expand its managed cybersecurity service portfolio to help enterprise customers better protect applications distributed across hybrid and multicloud environments. Their challenge was to effectively secure these apps for customers, including those with limited in-house security resources.

The solution was implemented by F5 through its Distributed Cloud Platform. Telefónica Tech built its new Web Application Defense (WAD) managed service on this platform, which provides WAAP functionality. The results enabled real-time app security across different geographies, simplified protection for customers via a single dashboard, and created a new revenue stream for Telefónica Tech.
