National Dong Hwa University secures 100+ apps and improves uptime with F5 Network

National Dong Hwa University (NDHU), a prestigious public university in Taiwan, faced challenges in securing its expansive digital footprint of over 100 web applications. Its legacy systems operated in silos, lacked centralized threat visibility, and were vulnerable to attacks, while performance bottlenecks during peak usage caused user frustration. This was compounded by the urgent need to comply with Taiwan’s Cyber Security Management Act (CSMA). To address this, NDHU turned to F5 for its BIG-IP Advanced WAF and BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM) solutions.

F5 implemented its BIG-IP Advanced WAF and LTM to provide a strategic first line of defense and application delivery support. The solution gave NDHU real-time threat visibility and automated protection against critical vulnerabilities like SQL injection and XSS. As a result, the university secured all of its applications, eliminated latency during high-traffic periods like course registration, and achieved full compliance with CSMA mandates, all while streamlining operations for its IT team.
