Big Brother Big Sister Foundation (BBBSF) depends on community donations to fund youth mentorship programs but faced low engagement and inefficient logistics. With email open rates under 20% and fragmented communications causing last-minute scheduling, the foundation needed a leaner way to mobilize donors and reduce pickup costs.
BBBSF implemented EZ Texting and a simple keyword ("PICKUP") so donors could easily schedule item pickups, allowing staff to pre-plan driver routes and cut administrative work. The result: far higher engagement (text open rates are about 6× email), increased donation volume, an estimated $200K saved in 2019, faster conversion of items to cash, and more resources for children in need.
