The University of Otago sought to create a world-class financial trading lab that would not only serve as a superior lecture environment but also enhance the on-campus experience. The challenge was to design a central, highly-visible space that could perform these dual functions, differentiating the institution in an era of increased remote learning. The university engaged Eyemagnet for its software-driven display solutions on the recommendation of a current partner.

Eyemagnet implemented a central command center powered by its software to manage the lab's displays. The solution featured a live NZX data ticker, enhanced in-lecture modes for streaming content, and a non-lecture mode that transformed the screens into a digital billboard for communications. This allowed the university to utilize the lab’s screens 100% of the time, with 50% now dedicated to broadcasting important messages when not in use for teaching. The project has gained international recognition for its innovative design and collaboration with Bloomberg.
