Children’s Council, a San Francisco family services organization, faced a significant challenge with its fragmented and duplicative data systems for tracking child care providers and subsidies. This made it difficult for counselors to efficiently connect families with quality, affordable care. The vendor, Exygy, was engaged to conduct a systems audit and subsequently develop a multi-year roadmap to modernize and unify these legacy systems.

Exygy designed and built an open-source Child Care Finder search engine, which was later upgraded to "Finder 2.0." This solution integrated a new national database system, enriching provider profiles with critical data like photos and vacancies and adding features such as geographic search and side-by-side comparisons. The result provided families with immediate access to pertinent information and empowered counselors to make better matches. Exygy's work not only streamlined operations for Children’s Council but also created a template with the potential to help similar agencies across the country.
