A Extreme Networks Case Study
Americatel, a Peruvian telecommunications provider serving roughly 9,000 companies, needed a more robust, highly available network to support long‑distance, Internet and NGN services. Facing poor visibility, security gaps, frequent failures, limited IT staff and high CAPEX/OPEX, Americatel selected Extreme Networks and its high‑performance switching portfolio (BlackDiamond 8810, BlackDiamond 8806 and Summit X460) to modernize its infrastructure.
Extreme Networks deployed a chassis‑class solution in Americatel’s data center—installing BD8810, BD8806 and Summit X460 switches and using Metro Ethernet, VLANs, EAPS, LAG and MLAG—while providing hands‑on engineering support during rollout. As a result, Extreme Networks increased network security and visibility, enabled multi‑vendor interoperability, reduced operating costs and eliminated prior service outages, delivering the high availability Americatel required for its ~9,000 connection points.
