Web Hosting Provider Expands Business with Introduction of Scalable and Automated Network

VentraIP Australia, the largest privately owned web host and domain registrar in Australia, faced rapid growth, multiple acquisitions and a move into NEXTDC colocation that exposed limitations in its legacy switching environment. The company needed a scalable, reliable and automated network to support premium, high‑bandwidth services and 24x7 support. VentraIP selected Extreme Networks and deployed Extreme Switching hardware (including X460‑G2, X460 and X670 switches), ExtremeMobility WiNG, wireless access points/controllers and Extreme’s orchestration, security and performance management services.

Extreme Networks rebuilt VentraIP’s core on fibre with redundant switching, automated provisioning (VLANs, network segmentation and security policies), and improved visibility and analytics. The solution delivered continuous uptime and operational efficiencies, supported VentraIP’s growth to more than 200,000 customers and a doubling in size over 24 months, enabled the on‑time migration of 500 servers ahead of schedule, and reduced time to identify and resolve performance issues—giving VentraIP a clear competitive advantage for both commodity and higher‑value hosting services.
