A Extreme Networks Case Study
Charité University Hospital Berlin, one of Europe’s largest university hospitals (13,000 employees, ~139,000 patients p.a., 100 clinics), needed to digitize clinical workflows to deliver a true electronic medical record while lowering OPEX, improving disaster recovery and optimizing server virtualization and data center visibility. To meet these goals Charité chose Extreme Networks, deploying ExtremeSwitching (K-, N- and S-Series) and Extreme Management Center integrated with VMware vSphere to modernize the campus LAN and data center fabric.
Extreme Networks implemented an S-Series core and 10G data center fabric with Extreme Management Center and Data Center Connect to automate orchestration and VM/network provisioning across more than 44,000 access ports and over 550 physical and 700 virtual servers. The deployment enabled automatic VM and tenant provisioning, increased virtualization to 53%, reduced OPEX, sped IT response and simplified disaster recovery—demonstrable efficiency and scalability gains delivered by Extreme Networks.
