A Extreme Networks Case Study

Preview of the University Hospital Leipzig Case Study

UKL Automates Hospital Processes with Reliable, High-Performance Network

University Hospital Leipzig, a 1,450‑bed academic medical center treating over 400,000 patients annually with staff from more than 55 nations, faced the need for greater flexibility, bandwidth and uptime to support roaming for roughly 6,500 users and 18,000 devices per month across its campus while meeting BSI security requirements and protecting sensitive patient data. To address these challenges the hospital partnered with Extreme Networks, deploying solutions including Extreme Wireless, Extreme Switching, Extreme Control and Extreme Premier Services.

Extreme Networks implemented more than 1,000 access points and 500 switches, plus automated segmentation and 24/7/365 Premier Services support, to boost bandwidth, support the dense device environment and harden security. The deployment simplified secure onboarding, eliminated the need for physical service‑network separation, automatically isolated critical IoMT devices, reduced operational overhead and freed staff to focus on patient care.
