A Extreme Networks Case Study
The Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), a public university of about 30,000 students, faced an obsolete, complex data network with no centralized management, manual maintenance and high downtime that limited storage, productivity and remote administration. To modernize its infrastructure and restore stability, UFAL selected Extreme Networks to upgrade its campus networking.
Extreme Networks replaced the legacy environment with a solution stack including ExtremeSwitching (rack‑top, edge and Black Diamond switches), ExtremeWireless controllers and integrated management and analytics (ExtremeControl, ExtremeManagement, ExtremeAnalytics). Following the R$9 million deployment begun in late 2012, the network is 100% monitored in real time, active 95% of the time, supports campus VoIP and Wi‑Fi, and saw a 250% increase in Wi‑Fi users within two years — delivering measurable stability and improved user experience.
