Tennessee Tech University Extends Reliable, Centrally Managed WLAN Throughout its Sprawling Campus

Tennessee Tech University, a public technological university with more than 11,700 students across 87 buildings on over 200 acres, faced an aging campus network and the need to support BYOD, Apple services, and growth without controller limits. To modernize and simplify management, Tennessee Tech partnered with Extreme Networks, deploying solutions including ExtremeRouting, ExtremeWireless, the BR100 routers, ExtremeCloud IQ and Extreme Networks’ Bonjour Gateway.

Extreme Networks implemented a centrally managed WLAN and cloud-based device provisioning so administrators can manage the campus from a single pane of glass; BR100 units auto-discover ExtremeCloud IQ and let admins apply one configuration to remote devices, enabling administrators to run “a thousand” remote office VPNs as easily as a single site. The deployment delivered increased productivity and a secure learning environment, simplified control and visibility of the LAN, and campus-wide support for Apple services and BYOD enabled by Extreme Networks’ Bonjour Gateway.
