Case Study: City of Borås achieves citywide high-performance, heritage-friendly connectivity with Extreme Networks

A Extreme Networks Case Study

Preview of the City of Borås Case Study

Taking Textiles into the Twenty First Century

City of Borås faced the task of wiring a new Textile Fashion Centre and linking it to the University, City and Museum networks while preserving heritage buildings and supporting a diverse, growing community with only four networking IT staff. Systems integrator Radpoint AB selected Extreme Networks and deployed Extreme Networks switches (X670 top-of-rack 10Gb and X440 series at the edge) to meet the need for a simple, flexible, plug-and-play infrastructure that could serve some 4,000 users.

Extreme Networks’ solution used X670 aggregation switches and fifty-five X440 edge switches (with the same OS features) to deliver high-density, low-latency interconnection, identity-aware security and redundant power. The network now provides ubiquitous access across the city center, has become a revenue source for the developer (Kanico), and prompted orders of over 200 Extreme Networks switches from Borås stakeholders; the deployment has been highly reliable with virtually all outages traced to external service delivery rather than the Extreme Networks infrastructure.
