Taiwan Optical Platform Partners with Extreme Networks for 40G Backbone Needs

Taiwan Optical Platform (TOP), the largest MSO in central Taiwan, needed a multi-gigabit backbone to connect three regions and support broadband, triple‑play and emerging services while delivering high availability, performance and security. TOP selected Extreme Networks to provide the backbone and management solution, including BlackDiamond 8900 core switches, Summit X460 edge switches (ExtremeXOS), EAPS protection and Ridgeline management to meet growing 40G capacity and reliability requirements.

Extreme Networks executed a seamless upgrade to a 40G core using BlackDiamond 8900 and Summit X460 hardware, deployed EAPS for sub‑50 millisecond service recovery and used Ridgeline for centralized configuration and troubleshooting. The result was continuous operation under heavy loads, faster problem resolution and measurable benefits — sub‑50 ms failover, simplified multi‑site management and time savings for administrators — while Extreme Networks’ stable platform and responsive support preserved TOP’s service quality and scalability.
