A Extreme Networks Case Study
Universidad Autónoma de Campeche faced an aging campus network across 27 buildings that lacked bandwidth, drove high maintenance costs, and needed to reliably support some 2,500 workstations and 300 VoIP phones for 5,000 students and 700 faculty/staff. To address these challenges the university selected Extreme Networks and its Summit X250, Summit X450a and BlackDiamond 8806 switching products to modernize the infrastructure.
Extreme Networks deployed a new 1 Gbps PoE switching backbone (BlackDiamond 8806 at the core plus Summit X250/X450 series access switches), a migration completed in about six months with support from partner RETO Industrial. The result: increased network capacity and reliability, greatly improved maintenance response and service, and a network that now simultaneously supports over 2,500 computers and ~300 VoIP lines with ongoing warranty and support from Extreme Networks.
