A Extreme Networks Case Study
Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School, the nation’s oldest agricultural school serving about 600 students across 11 buildings, faced the challenge of delivering reliable, high‑speed connectivity in aging, concrete‑walled facilities with limited wiring and a very small IT team. To meet growing device and application demands—including support for roughly 100 video security cameras and high‑bandwidth classroom tools—the school selected Extreme Networks, deploying ExtremeCloud IQ and Extreme Wi‑Fi 6 access points to preserve a simple, flexible remote management model.
Extreme Networks implemented ExtremeCloud IQ and installed 41 new Wi‑Fi 6 APs (with plans to replace legacy Aerohive switches with Extreme switches), providing classroom‑level coverage, expanded outdoor access, and support for AR/VR and other bandwidth‑intensive apps. The deployment eliminated wiring challenges, allowed the IT team to manage the entire network from a single pane of glass, reduced AP relocation/installation to minutes, and enabled dependable connectivity for students, staff, and ~100 cameras—delivering measurable improvements in performance, manageability, and ROI.
