Service Provider WorldLink Turns to Extreme Networks for Converged MPLS Network

WordLink Communications, the largest private-sector Internet and data service provider in Nepal, needed to upgrade its nationwide optical and wireless network to a high-performance, reliable, and cost-effective converged platform that could support voice, video, Internet and multisite MPLS VPN services. Seeking a long-term partner to deliver multilayer switching, routing and MPLS capabilities, WordLink selected Extreme Networks and its Summit X series switches together with the ExtremeXOS operating system (and Ridgeline management) to meet those requirements.

Extreme Networks deployed more than 100 Summit switches (including X250e, X350, X450a, X480 and MPLS-enabled X460 models) and ExtremeXOS/Ridgeline to build a resilient, manageable MPLS Carrier Ethernet network. The Extreme Networks solution delivered higher availability, simplified administration and lower TCO while supporting over 20,000 residential subscribers, roughly 800 enterprise customers and 2,500 provisioned circuits, enabling reliable voice, video, Internet and intercity backhaul services nationwide.
