A Extreme Networks Case Study
RPI (Reischling Press, Inc.), a Seattle-based maker of private-label photo books, greeting cards and stationery, needed to rebuild its iSCSI switch fabric and boost its data center core from 1G to 10G to support growing SAN traffic and ensure near-100% uptime for customer orders. After evaluating Juniper and Cisco, RPI selected Extreme Networks (working with partner Datec) for a streamlined, single-interface, cost-effective solution with strong training and ongoing support.
Extreme Networks delivered a core-to-edge solution using a BlackDiamond 8810 core with Summit X450e and Summit X670 switches, managed by ExtremeXOS and Ridgeline, migrating over 90% of RPI’s network and completing the cutover in under a day. The deployment raised core capacity from 1G to 10G, eliminated downtime (zero outages since implementation), simplified management with a single image, provided policy-based QoS for VoIP, and substantially lowered RPI’s total cost of ownership.
