A Extreme Networks Case Study
SOLARIS National Synchrotronic Radiation Centre, the largest synchrotron facility in Poland and the first in Central Europe, faced the challenge of reliably connecting and managing a vast, timing‑sensitive ecosystem — roughly 220 motors, ~150 controlled motorised devices and a network of more than 2,750 devices running over 100 applications across a 3,000 m2 hall. To support precise motion control, real‑time data acquisition and future expansion, the centre needed a low‑latency, secure, flexible and scalable network; they engaged Extreme Networks and its ExtremeXOS Switching and Extreme Management Center solutions.
Extreme Networks implemented ExtremeXOS Switching and Extreme Management Center to deliver a centrally managed, low‑latency, resilient backbone with per‑port policy enforcement, application telemetry, automated daily backups and remote VLAN/port configuration. The deployment now supports the centre’s ~2,750 devices, 60 switches and dozens of access points, enables rapid provisioning (ports off by default until devices connect), reduces administrative overhead and scales to handle increased connections and heavier data transmission — allowing SOLARIS to add beamlines and expand research capabilities without disrupting IT operations.
