A Extreme Networks Case Study
Oberto, the second-largest producer of beef jerky in the U.S., needed to replace aging Cisco Wi‑Fi that was limited to 802.11b and could not reliably support mobile handheld scanners across its production and warehouse sites (including a Nashville facility of more than half a million square feet). Seeking a controller‑less, cloud‑managed solution for remote management and simplified operations, Oberto selected Extreme Networks and deployed ExtremeWireless access points (AP350, AP330, AP170) along with ExtremeSwitching and ExtremeCloud IQ for centralized cloud management.
Extreme Networks implemented a controller‑less, cloud‑managed Wi‑Fi fabric that created separate corporate and guest networks, linked Nashville via VPN, and provided robust coverage throughout all locations. As a result, Oberto now runs product and distribution functions 100% wirelessly—employees use Honeywell Intermec handhelds feeding data into QAD for accurate inventory tracking and barcode data collection—while IT benefits from simplified management, automatic updates, Spectrum Analysis for troubleshooting, and no reported ExtremeCloud IQ outages.
