Network Transformation Drives Excellence at Kentucky State University

Kentucky State University, serving 2,300 students across a large Frankfort campus, faced an aging network that was over 20 years old, lacked redundancy, and could no longer keep up with growing BYOD demands. To modernize its infrastructure and support reliable student connectivity, KSU turned to its trusted partner C1 and Extreme Networks for help with a campus network transformation.

C1 and Extreme Networks implemented a full fiber and network refresh, including a move to Extreme single-mode fiber, five interconnected campus hub locations, 100 network switches, 800 wireless access points, Cat6 cabling in 13 buildings, and more than 85,000 feet of new fiber. The upgrade boosted speeds to 40Gbps and added redundancy and resilience, helping Kentucky State University move closer to its goal of 99.99% availability and a stronger educational experience for students.
