Netherlands Creative College Tackles Mobility Challenge with Extreme Networks HighPerformance Network

Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam (GLR), the largest creative college in the Netherlands with about 4,000 students and 350 staff, faced a mobility and future-proofing challenge: students and staff needed location-independent access to professional-quality audio, video and data from multiple devices, and the college wanted an Ethernet network capable of transporting broadcast‑quality AV. GLR selected Extreme Networks and its solution stack — including BlackDiamond X8 core switches, Summit X460 and X670 edge switches, ExtremeXOS, NetSight NMS and Audio Video Bridging (AVB) technology — to meet these requirements.

Extreme Networks implemented the deployment in June 2014 (two BlackDiamond X8 cores with Summit X460/X670 edges running ExtremeXOS and managed via NetSight), delivering a high‑performance, scalable and resilient network that unifies data, audio and video on a single infrastructure using AVB. As a result, GLR can support mobile, location‑independent learning for its 4,000 students and 350 staff, scale to more devices per user, simplify management with a single OS and monitoring portal, and transport/edit professional AV content anywhere — achieving a future‑proof, easier‑to‑manage campus network with clear operational and pedagogical benefits from Extreme Networks.
