Case Study: Bavarian State Parliament achieves secure, campus-wide Wi‑Fi and centralized network management with Extreme Networks

A Extreme Networks Case Study

Preview of the Bavarian State Parliament Case Study

Modernization of the IT Infrastructure for an Efficient and Secure Network

The Bavarian State Parliament, home to 180 deputies and about 500 employees, faced rapidly rising network traffic and widespread BYOD use that stressed its aging wired and wireless infrastructure and created strict regulatory security challenges. To achieve centralized visibility and control, high-performance scalable Wi‑Fi, and compliance with Bavarian data protection rules, the parliament engaged Extreme Networks and selected its A- and B-Series stackable switches, S-Series modular switches, IdentiFi™ Wireless LAN Access Points & Controller, and NetSight network management (including NAC and Mobile IAM).

Extreme Networks deployed a modern wired and wireless core—including 150 IdentiFi access points and NetSight as a single “pane of glass” for monitoring, reporting and policy-based control—covering the campus with ubiquitous, higher‑performance Wi‑Fi and managing some 4,000 Ethernet ports. The solution delivered faster, more secure connectivity for 500 users, simplified troubleshooting and centralized policy enforcement for BYOD and guest access, and ensured compliance with Bavarian data‑protection requirements, achieving single‑pane network management and total BYOD security through Extreme Networks.
