Mobile Learning Garners High Marks at City, University of London

City University of London, a multi‑site campus serving 18,000 students and 2,000 staff across 24 buildings, faced a fragile, overly complex network that made routine changes risky and caused reliability issues during heavy mobile and BYOD usage (peaks of ~6,000 wired and 10,000 wireless devices). To address these challenges they partnered with Extreme Networks and evaluated the Extreme Automated Campus solution (including Extreme Fabric Connect, ExtremeManagement and Extreme Identity Engines) to simplify operations and future‑proof the estate.

Extreme Networks deployed the Extreme Automated Campus with Fabric Connect and management tools, extending fabric to the edge and automating VLAN and routing changes. The result was elimination of error‑induced core outages (100% reported core uptime), ~90% of VLANs fabric‑enabled, far faster provisioning (hundreds of edge switches deployed and dozens more VLANs created routinely), stronger access control and noticeably higher student satisfaction—while making routine moves and maintenance far simpler and less risky.
