A Extreme Networks Case Study
McMinn County School System, serving 5,600 students across nine schools, struggled with an outdated wired and wireless network that could not reliably support BYOD and a planned 1:1 rollout. Frequent connection drops, limited bandwidth—especially at the high schools—and a small IT team of five drove the district to issue an open E-Rate RFP and select Extreme Networks to modernize their infrastructure.
Extreme Networks delivered a full “all purple” solution—ExtremeWireless, ExtremeSwitching, ExtremeManagement, ExtremeControl and ExtremeAnalytics—replacing switches, adding a secondary Wi‑Fi controller and stackable switches for resiliency. The Extreme Networks deployment reduced wireless issues by 97%, saved $15–20K in summer labor, increased throughput and access by about 70%, lowered total cost of ownership, enabled AP consolidation (four old APs to one Extreme AP in one room), and provides redundancy to restore service within 30 minutes.
