Manukau Institute of Technology Brings Digital Transformation Vision to Life for Staff and Students

Manukau Institute of Technology, a vocational tertiary provider in Auckland with about 14,000 students and 1,300 staff across five campuses, faced a fragmented network built from more than a dozen vendors that hindered reliable wired/wireless access, device onboarding, and support for digital workplace and smart infrastructure initiatives. To meet its digital transformation goals and simplify operations, Manukau Institute of Technology selected Extreme Networks, deploying ExtremeCloud IQ, ExtremeXOS switching and ExtremeWireless AP series as its standardized networking platform.

Extreme Networks delivered a consolidated, cloud-managed network that enabled single‑pane management, granular visibility, machine‑learning insights and SSO across services. As a result, Manukau Institute of Technology reduced overall network management costs and now runs the network with three engineers who can troubleshoot and configure remotely, achieved secure seamless access for staff and students, and was able to move 82% of courses fully or partly online within 10 days during the COVID‑19 lockdown—while supporting new initiatives at the TechPark campus.
