A Extreme Networks Case Study
Ouachita Parish School System, a 36‑school district in Monroe, Louisiana serving about 20,000 students and 2,500 staff, needed to upgrade its network to support PARCC online assessments (roughly 18,000 students tested twice a year). With only two networking IT staff, the district required higher performance, capacity, reliability and easier management, and selected Extreme Networks to meet those priorities.
Extreme Networks deployed a scaled Summit solution ( Summit X670/X480 core, Summit X450e/X460 edge switches), powered by ExtremeXOS and managed with Ridgeline, ultimately standardizing on more than 275 Extreme Networks switches across the district. The new design delivered the performance, availability and VLAN segmentation needed to pass the PARCC pilot, enabled PoE for wireless APs and IP phones, simplified management to lower TCO, and gave the district confidence to scale for full online testing.
